African Wedding Traditions

Africa is a hotbed of culture and different customs. Marriages are very special occasions in Africa, and are marked with elaborate ceremony and opportunity. Young African girls are taught from an early age the need to have a family and the duties of married women. African Weddings are supposed to be colorful and lively.

An important tradition of marriage Africa is to understand the importance of the "Family". Here, the marriage unites two families or two tribes as a single family unit. Different parts of Africa follow different traditions. Some unique traditions of Africa marriage can be seen in the tradition Wedding Ankole, Pygmie marriage tradition, the tradition of Marriage Nile, the Congo marriage tradition, Zambia and marriage traditions.



In Sudan and in other parts of the Nile River, it is a ritual for a toilet to pay the family of his fiancee in a herd of cattle and sheep, for the loss of their daughter's work in support of their family. In Somalia, the girl agrees to a boy at a very young age and, in general, any man can marry up to four times if it is financially secure.

Bright festive colors, songs, dance, music are common throughout Africa marriage. Traditionally, it is estimated that Africa should be a girl in marriage at a very early age when she reached adulthood physically.
In many African countries, girls are taught from childhood secret code and language needed to communicate with other married women without disclosing the fact in front of their husbands.

In Kenya, it is a standard that, after the "real" wedding the bride is shown in public, with a so-called, kupamba. The ceremony always takes place in the evening. It marks the transition from a young bride to enter a world of married women.

In Egypt, young girls are married off at an early age. Are arranged marriage ceremonies in the presence of a witness and brideprice have settled. When everything is agreed on the first chapter of the Koran is read.
